Being a consortium partner on USAID’s BETTER OUTCOMES for Children and Youth in Eastern and Northern Uganda, UWESO currently is implementing an Economic Strengthening component of BETTER OUTCOMES Project to reach out to 60,000 vulnerable households in 20 districts in Eastern and Northern, the USAID funded Districts through Livelihoods and other pathways over a five year period (2015-2020) .Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) Methodology, Business Skills Training, Financial Literacy Education and Bank Linkage are key interventions under the economic strengthening component.

Job Title: Gender Officer
No. of Positions: One
Job location: Kampala

Tasks and key responsibilities
1. Strengthen the capacity of technical staff and partner organizations in gender mainstreaming.
2. Guide the organization in the development of gender specify strategies, guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) to promote gender equity.
3. Design and implement strategies that promote Asset building for Adolescent girls and Young Women (AGYW) to increase their life skills and resilience.
4. Develop and support implementation of specific strategies for Gender based Violence (GBV) prevention and response across the organization.
5. Review social and behaviour change communication and group education materials that seek to transform norms on gender and gender-based violence to ensure they are gender-sensitive and transformative.

Minimum qualifications
Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Community Psychology or other humanities with relevant gender training.

Experience and Skills
a) At least four years’ experience in gender programming and main streaming, developing, implementing and evaluating OVC, GBV, protection, livelihood, and/or public health programs, including implementation of community health.
b) Good knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and databases is required. Numerical skills for data analysis are required.
c) Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
d) Should be aged 35years and above and be able and willing to adhere to child protection safe guarding policy.
e) Should have the following skills, training and supervisory, team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
f) Must be Computer literate.

Job Title: Assistant Accountant
No. of Positions: One
Job location: Kampala
Nature of appointment: Contractual Basis

Tasks and key responsibilities
1. Process and reconcile accounting documents such as invoices, employees’ advances and their retirement.
2. Compile necessary documentation for cost share reporting.
3. Review vendors’ invoices and reconcile them with the local purchase order form and other documents for accuracy and completeness.
4. Select and compile data for statements, expenditures, revenues, accounts and reports.
5. Prepare process payment vouchers to disburse funds; enter and code financial information in the Navision system.

Minimum qualifications
A Diploma Accounting & Finance, Business Administration or its equivalent.
Acquisition of CPA level one.

Experience and Skills
a) A minimum of three years’ working experience in a similar post working with a reputable NGO.
b) Ability to use computer packages like Microsoft Office and accounting software applications like Navision, SUN and Quick books is an added advantage.
c) Numeric skills, team orientation, effective communication are required.
d) Must exhibit a high degree of integrity.
e) Adhere to child protection safe guarding policy

Job Title: Vocational Coordinator
No. of Positions: One
Job location: Wakiso (Masulita Town Council)

Job Summary: The Vocational Coordinator will provide technical and administrative oversight of Masulita UWESO Vocational Institute as well as the children’s home and farm.

Tasks and key responsibilities
1. In charge of the implementation of the Curriculum Strategy and instruction and be responsible for all aspects of Vocational course syllabus/assessment material development in conjunction with instructors.
2. Responsible for all aspects of Vocational course programming and timetabling, in conjunction with Instructors and ensuring all training is conducted in accordance with the Curriculum Strategy.
3. Ensure all training is conducted in a dynamic, realistic and safe manner, in line with the training objectives and current teaching and methods.
4. Provide day-to-day financial and administrative management, and reporting oversight for the Institute, Children’s home and the farm.
5. Provide line management of the instructors and administrative staff of the children’s home and farm.
6. Carry out periodic assessment of students’ performance to obtain feedback and publicizing the institute to increase student enrollment.
7. Carry out mobilization activities effective management of the institute and its sustainability.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
a) The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Vocational Studies and other related fields from recognized institutions of higher learning.
b) A Diploma in Vocational Training and Business Education, or its equivalent
c) A minimum of five years’ experience at Principal level in a vocational training institution.
d) Possess a good working and writing knowledge of the English language; Self-driven and motivation to achieve the best results; Ability to use computer packages like Microsoft Office.
e) Strong appreciation of ethical work practices, procedures and guidelines in a vocational institute setting;
f) Should be above 30 years of ages and must adhere to the child protection policies.

Job Title: Farm Manager
No. of Positions: One
Job location: Wakiso (Masulita Town Council)
Job Summary: To ensure maximum yield of the MCV farm in line with UWESO policies and procedures.

Tasks and key responsibilities;
1. To ensure strategic administration of the farm by planning, budgeting, monitoring and documenting all the yields for the sustainability of the farm.
2. Support in the development and preparation of currently used land for farming purposes.
3. Ensure regular repair and maintenance of farm buildings, machinery and equipment.
4. Ensure line management, regular training and capacity building of the subordinates.
5. Ensure quality of the farm products.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
a) A Diploma in sustainable agriculture or any other related fields.
b) A minimum of three years’ working experience in a similar post working with a reputable farm.
c) Ability to use computer packages like Microsoft Office.
d) Should be above 30 years.
e) Proven success record in crop production and animal husbandry.
f) Ability to plan & lead a team of employees.
g) Leadership skills, result oriented, concern for standards and should be development oriented.
h) Adhere to child protection policies.
