With support from the United Arab Emirates, UWESO is implementing the AROC project (Advancing Rights & Opportunities for Vulnerable Children). The project aims at reducing vulnerability among children who have limited access to education because of their socio economic conditions partly caused by their migrant nature and refugee status. The Organization seeks to recruit qualified and competent  candidates for these detailed positions below;

 

Job Title                                   Consultant-An Individual Team Leader for a baseline survey

Reports to :                              Monitoring & Evaluation Manager (M&E)

Nature of appointment:     15 days

Job Purpose: The baseline survey will establish means by which progress toward the activity’s goals will be measured, and will serve as a foundation for future evaluations that will analyze the program’s overall success and impact.

  • The Team Leader shall be responsible for the following activities:
  • Organization of training sessions for interviewers according to SPSS requirements
  • Development of quality control procedures, data entry manuals and codebooks
  • Design of protocols, tools and supporting processes in Assessing socio-economic status of the communities including their livelihoods practices in the area following project objectives
  • Development of pre-test and pilot test plans
  • Development of survey related documentation
  • Oversight of pilot-testing
  • Provide primary control oversight of survey data collection
  • Follow international standard quality control standards and quality assurance procedures adopted by international research community
  • Adhere to UAE Humanitarian Framework and Goals (SDGs)”. Under strategic priority area 3 broadening Strategic Partnerships standard requirements
  • Produce a final report that covers baseline survey, inception reports and update M&E plan results.

The Team Leader should meet minimum qualification requirements:

  • Master’s degree in survey research, statistics, international development, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of proven experience in leading of teams assigned to evaluate donor funded projects in Refugee area
  • Experience in evaluating international Livelihood project projects
  • Strong skills in obtaining feedback from stakeholders, facilitation of in-brief, mid-term and out-brief meetings and presenting progress;
  • Experience in synthesizing findings and writing reports;
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) in English
  • Adhere to child protection safe guarding policy.

The following outputs are expected from the consultant

  • Tools, Data entry, data analysis and report writing of project baseline survey prepared
  • Project inception reports prepared and M&E plan for the projects Updated.
  • Final report of baseline survey, inception reports and Cross cutting-M&E plans presented to UWESO Senior Managers, Team leaders and project officers.
  • The Final report with overall analyses and recommendations will be included in the presentation

Budget:

A detailed daily rate outlining all the costs for doing this should be attached along with CV.

 

Job Title:                               Human Resource Officer

Job location:                         Kampala

Nature of appointment:  Contractual Basis

Tasks and key responsibilities;

  1. To co-ordinate the recruitment and selection process and  ensure availability of competent staff
  2. To ensure that the payroll is prepared and managed on a monthly basis.
  3. To ensure that all staff (new and existing) have contracts.
  4. To manage employee relations according to company policy and procedures.
  5. To coordinate the performance management process of the organisation.
  6. To manage the training and development function of the organisation.
  7. To enhance the welfare of staff.
  8. Ensure that policies and procedures are developed and operationalised.
  9. Ensuring the effective management of staff exits.

Minimum qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in any field and post graduate diploma in Human Resource Management, or its equivalent.

A masters ’degree in Human resource Management is an added advantage.

Membership to Human Resource Managers’ Association of Uganda is required.

Experience and Skills:

  1. A minimum of three years’ working experience in a similar post working with a reputable NGO.
  2. Ability to use computer packages like Microsoft Office and Human Resource System.
  3. Should be above 30 years
  4. Knowledge of labour laws.
  5. Ability to plan & lead a team of employees.

Job Title:                                   Project Officers

Job location:                              Isingiro & Mbarara

Reports to :                                Head of Programs

Nature of appointment:       Contractual basis

 

Tasks and key responsibilities;

  1. To ensure implementation of projects in the region according to donor specifications, and organization policies and procedures.
  2. To ensure periodic reporting on the progress of various activities in the region.
  3. To carry out advocacy and resource mobilisation activities in order to increase support to the organisation in improving the quality of service of the projects
  4. To ensure implementation of projects according to set targets and specifications

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Business Administration or any other related field.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  1. At least 2 years’ relevant experience in Community Development, Rural Finance /VSLA Promotion or Enterprise Development,
  2. Computer Literate
  3. Monitoring & Evaluation skills

 Job Title:                             Assistant  Accountant

Job location:                        Kampala & Mbarara

Nature of appointment: Contractual Basis

Tasks and key responsibilities;

  1. To ensure timely requisition of funds, make payments, documentation and proper accountability at the region.
  2. To ensure safety and regular repair and maintenance of the assets.
  3. To prepare timely financial management reports of regional activities.
  4. Line manages support staff.

Minimum qualifications:

A Diploma in Accounting & Finance, Business Administration or its equivalent. Acquisition of CPA level one.

Experience and Skills:

  1. A minimum of three years’ working experience in a similar post working with a reputable NGO.
  2. Ability to use computer packages like Microsoft Office and accounting software applications like Navision, SUN and Quick books is an added advantage.
  3. Numeric skills, team orientation, effective communication are required.
  4. Must exhibit a high degree of integrity.

Job Title:                              Business Development Officer

Nature of appointment: Contractual Basis

Tasks and key responsibilities;

  1. To ensure the availability of funds to support the implementation of UWESO‘s programs.
  2. To participate in financial planning and management of funds for project implementation.
  3. Manage the communications function of the organisation.
  4. To enhance the organisation’s visibility and manage the public and media relations’ role.
  5. To manage and supervise the performance of the front desk officer.

Minimum qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Entrepreneurship Studies or the equivalent. Sales or Marketing experience will be an added advantage

Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

  1. A minimum of 3 years’ working experience in a similar post, working with a reputable NGO.
  2. Managerial & Supervisory skills.
  3. Project planning & development.
  4. Basic financial management skills.
  5. Proposal writing skills
  6. Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.

Job Title:                             Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant

No. of Positions                 Two

Job location:                        Kampala (one) & Mbarara (one)

Nature of appointment: Contractual Basis

Tasks and key responsibilities;

  1. Work with the Project Co-ordinator and Project Officers to design and disseminate AROC M&E frame work.
  2. Prepare source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information; establishing entry priorities
  3. Reconcile and clean files both in the manual registers and system
  4. Support Designing data collection tools and Ensure timely, complete and accurate collection of data from field
  5. Design data bases for all the new and old interventions
  6. Analyze all data entered into the systems and Prepare timely aggregate reports against project targets, reports to track, agent and group performance and sharing with the project team
  7. Maintains data entry requirements by following data program techniques and procedures.
  8. Conduct periodic monitoring of projects activities, outputs and outcomes including data collection on a timely basis and in accordance with Monitoring and Evaluation plans.
  9. Produce any other reports as may be required in the project to ensure that all processes and project outcome/results are documented.

Minimum qualifications:

A Diploma in Statistics Economics, social sciences or any other related field.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

  1. At least two years ‘experience & practical knowledge in M& E position Data management.
  2. A training in M&E is desirable.
  3. Knowledge is quantitative Economics is an added advantage.
  4. Must have the following; Analytical skills, conceptual thinking, thoroughness & leadership orientation.
  5. Adhere to child protection safe guarding policy

Job Title:                               Community Based Trainers

No. of Positions                  Twenty

Job location:                        Western Region

Reports to :                           Project Officer

Nature of appointment: Contractual basis

Tasks and key responsibilities;

  1. Mobilization & sensitization of community groups.
  2. Mobilization & raising awareness with local leadership.
  3. Training groups/ School clubs in Sanitation, Food security and Village Savings & Loans Association (VSLA) methodology.
  4. Gathering project data & monitoring VSLA, Farmer groups and School clubs.
  5. Preparation of periodic & operational Plans.
  6. Preparation of progress reports.
  7. Support all group leaders under your supervision.

Minimum qualifications:  At least O-Level Certificate(6 credits)

Experience: At least 2 years’ relevant experience in community development, experienced Facilitator/Trainer

Other requirements: Knowledge of the geographical area.

Languages Spoken; Runyankole, Rukiiga, Rufumbira, Ruhororo, Kiswahili and Kinyarwanda & English spoken & Written. Must adhere to child protection and safeguarding policy. Should be above 30 years and have the ability to ride a bicycle.
