What it is:
- A partnership: A collaboration between USAID, EDC (Education Development Center, the prime), and local partners like UWESO.
- A program for vulnerable youth: Targets children and adolescents facing challenges like HIV, poverty, and violence.
- A holistic approach: Addresses health (HIV prevention/care), education, economic empowerment, and social protection.
Key goals:
- Support Children Living with HIV (CLHIV) and HIV-Exposed Infants (HEI).
- Reduce new HIV infections.
- Improve access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services.
- Help youth achieve economic stability and better health outcomes.
UWESO’s role:
- UWESO acts as a Primary Local Partner (PLP) for the ICYD activity in specific districts (e.g., Tororo, Mbale, Soroti, Busia, Katakwi, Kotido).
- They implement activities to provide direct support and services to children and families in these areas.
