USAID OVC North East Activity-UWESO Staff Recruitment
The Activity is a five-year program to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), and Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) in six (6) districts of Busia, Katakwi, Kotido, Mbale, Soroti and Tororo, and two (2) cities of Mbale and Soroti. The strategic goal of the Activity is to ensure improved well-being of children and youth through comprehensive interventions that enhance sustainable prevention of new HIV infections and continued care for OVC and their caregivers and expand the reach of OVC core activities.
Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant 1 (Soroti)
Job Summary:
The M&E Assistant will be responsible for ensuring effective implementation of M&E activities and maintaining a robust M&E system at the district level. He/She will support data quality checks and verifications, data analysis, systematic tracking of performance, quality reporting, and continuous capacity building to Data Assistants, Program staff and community structures for progressive quality improvement. The M&E Assistant reports technically to the MEL Advisor and the District Programme Coordinator Administratively
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees M&E activities at the district level, including data collection, management and reporting on project outcomes.
- Responsible for overseeing monitoring data collection and entry for all thematic areas, consolidation of data and regular data quality audits (samples and spot checks).
- Responsible for reviewing data for deficiencies or errors, compiling and sorting source data in preparation for entry in databases, real-time data entry and reporting, and filling as per the filling guidelines.
- Responsible for quarterly reporting and quality checks in OVCMIS and HYBRID
- Responsible for clear targeting to guide the implementation of project activities
- Conduct routine data triangulation to assess accuracy, timeliness and consistency
- Support capacity development of Data Assistants, Program teams and community structures to support high-quality data collection, and deepen data-driven performance monitoring and evidence-based learning.
- Ensure smooth collaboration with both PEPFAR and Non-PEPFAR Partners within the district.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The M&E Assistant should have the following qualifications and competencies:
- A bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Public Health or any other related field.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in M&E for USAID OVC project(s) is a must.
- Computer Literacy with knowledge and experience in data management and analysis using MS Excel, SPSS and STATA is required.
- Postgraduate training in M&E or Statistics is an added advantage.
- Good presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated, and able to work under pressure.
- Team-oriented, possesses a positive attitude and works well with others.
- Flexible and willing to travel to the field as required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
