About UWESO

Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO) is a National Non-Government Organization that was founded in 1986 by Ugandan mothers who are committed to supporting and caring for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC). Its vision is to have “Healthy Children living in a peaceful world of Opportunity “and mission is “Striving to improve the quality of life of vulnerable children and youth for them to survive and thrive.”

About MCV

It was commissioned in 1989, This institute is located in Wakiso district.
The Children’s Village has three components: a children’s home, a farm and a vocational training institute.
MCV has adequate space and infrastructure with a capacity to provide alternative care and psychosocial support to 150 abandoned and former street children at any given time according to assessment /approval by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD).
The vocational institute has two-level blocks that house administration offices, workshops and classrooms. It also has adequate tools and equipment relevant to all the trades offered at the institute.

Job Summary: 

Responsible for planning the overall delivery of Masulita Children’ Village (MCV) programs and their activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create individual plans for each child with feedback from all the staff that interact with the children.
  • In consultation with the Head of Programs, develop monthly and other periodic budgets and work plans to support the programs.
  • Plan and assign deliverable targets to staff at the MCV
  • Provide support to the Head of Programs in recruitment, selection and performance management of program staff (including house parents, nurses, estate managers, farm mangers, gardeners, guards, social workers, and counselors).
  • Ensure that all program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the Organization and relevant legislation.
  • Provide financial oversight support to MCV Accountant
  • Identify and evaluate risks/problems associated with program activities at the property and take appropriate action to control the risks/problems.
  • Assisting with administrative responsibilities and promoting a positive atmosphere at MCV
  • Communicate routinely with the Head of Programs through evidence-based reporting on activities and any other issue of concern at MCV
  • Coordinate the three units to deliver harmonized work plans and budgets to the UWESO Strategic Plan.
  • Provide Management support to the Farm Manager, Vocational Coordinator, and the Project Assistant MCV to deliver each unit as interrelated and integrated units.
  • Provide support supervision for activities at MCV.
  • Coordinate MCV procurement, the estate and fleet management of MCV.
  • Act as the overall spokesperson on behalf of MCV in the community.
  • Support Monitoring, Evaluation, Action Research and Learning as an integrated unit to various interventions.
  • Promote Children’s rights and duties and encourage them to join home activities
  • Provide information, advice and support to the children, staff and the entire MCV community.
  • Oversee all project activities and be the primary contact point for the Secretariat and the MCV staff
  • Responsible for regularly submitting activity reports, minutes of MCV staff meetings, and financial information to the Secretariat.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of annual activity-MCV budgets and monthly and quarterly financial reports and sending of new funding requests to the Secretariat.
  • Provides guidance and support for staff, ensuring clarity over MCV plans and priorities and encouraging practical teamwork.
  • Any other assignment on behalf of UWESO provided by your supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A Degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration and any other related field
  • At least 4 years’ work experience
  • Experience in childhood management is an added advantage
  • Computer Literacy and Documentation Skills are a must Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accurate attention to detail
  • Goal-oriented, organized team player
  • Ability to work well with management and staff at all levels
