Duty Station: Masulita, Wakiso District
Job Summary:
The Motor Vehicle Mechanics Instructor, based at Masulita Vocational School, will be responsible for delivering high-quality theoretical and practical training in automotive mechanics. The role focuses on equipping students with hands-on skills in vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and repair, while promoting safety and industry-relevant practices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver both theoretical and practical training in motor vehicle mechanics to students
- Prepare lesson plans, training materials, and practical demonstrations aligned with the curriculum
- Guide students in hands-on mechanical work, including vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and repairs
- Train students in the proper use of workshop tools, equipment, and machinery
- Assess and evaluate student performance through tests, assignments, and practical assessments
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety standards within the workshop
- Mentor and support students in developing technical and employability skills
- Maintain and manage workshop tools, equipment, and training resources
- Keep accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance
- Stay updated with current automotive technologies and industry practices
- Work closely with school management to ensure quality training and positive learning outcomes
- Lead the process of learner assessment and certification in accordance with TVET requirements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- National Certificate or advanced craft certificate in Motor vehicle mechanics.
- National Diploma in mechanical engineering
- Officially registered as a TVET trainer.
- More than 2 years’ experience in training and assessment using a UBTEB recognized module
Technical skills required
- Proven hands-on experience in vehicle repair, servicing, and diagnostics
- Previous teaching or training experience in a vocational setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and workshop practices
Behavioral skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities
- Ability to mentor and support students with diverse learning needs
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to student development
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices in electrical work
